"Ugly Betty" fans will be getting more of Betty and less of Alexis Meade next season on "Ugly Betty." The character of Alexis Meade, the transsexual editor at Meade Publications, is played by Rebecca Romijn.
According to TV Guide, Romijn will not be returning to the show as a series regular next season, but instead as a recurring character. The producers want to refocus the show back onto lovable Betty, played by America Ferrera.
Changing the direction of the show means streamlining the growing cast. Fans don't need to despair that things will become pleasant at Meade Publications, however, because Romijn will be back but in a recurring role.
A spokesman at ABC Studios confirmed the decision about Alexis Meade's path, but also added, "Watch for some juicy twists in her story line."
